3/7 new wonders of the world!!🌎 2 in the space of 6 days whaaaat 😭

The statue is 38m tall and was built in the same year as the Empire State Building in 1931! Standing next to such a huge and beautiful structure was surreal, a really great day even with the crowds

Laughing because the guy behind me dramatically grabbed my arm to get out his photo 🥴😂

Baby mouse opossum 🥺 everyone was gathered round taking photos and I tripped on the branch that this baby was chilling on sending it flying 😭 it was completely fine though we found it a few minutes later unharmed and still chilling I promise 😂

This body of water is known as an aguada and was really important in our research while in the jungle 🌳 a lot of the animals in Calakmul biosphere reserve rely on these aguadas for survival, whether for habitat, egg laying or for drinking. Unfortunately instances of drought in the past few years have meant many of them are drying up, forcing animals to relocate or populations to decline.
The work of Opwall is to determine just how climate change and drought is affecting these aguadas and the species associated with them, and restoration projects will begin in a few weeks with many already completed 👏🏼
